Kerio WebMail
Kerio MailServer comes with two different webmail interfaces:
- Kerio WebMail
- Kerio WebMail Mini
Since Kerio WebMail offers most of the groupware features
of "fat" email clients, it makes it a great alternative to Microsoft Outlook. Conversely, Kerio WebMail Mini was designed for maximum speed when viewing email from the small screen of a PDA device or an old web browser in an Internet cafe.
Kerio WebMail supported browsers
The full version of Kerio WebMail supports the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer 6 and 7
- Safari 1.3 and 2
- Firefox 1 and 2
- Mozilla 1.7.5 and higher
Kerio WebMail Mini will support older browsers.
Real groupware capabilities
Just like a real desktop application, Kerio WebMail lets users view and manage email, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks over both corporate LANs and the Internet.
Rapid responses
Speed of access has been always an issue with webmail, so Kerio WebMail takes a different approach from traditional solutions. It downloads only updated segments of a web page rather than downloading the entire page. With faster mail browsing, administrators can replace traditional email clients with webmail with less protest from users.
Automated message retrieval
Kerio
WebMail automatically checks for new messages without requiring
the user to refresh the screen or click on any buttons. Even
when a user leaves a WebMail window unattended, new incoming
messages will pop-up in the inbox.
Public, private & shared Contacts
Users can access and manage their private address book from webmail. Since contacts are centrally stored at the server, it has never been easier to share them with other users or synchronize them with Outlook or Entourage.
Users can also subscribe to multiple public address books so that departments can share their self-managed directories with their entire organization.
Similar to server-based mailing lists managed by mail server administrator, a Distribution List is a group of private contacts and email addresses masked as a group name.
For greater Outlook synchronization, Kerio WebMail and Kerio WebMail Mini can create Distribution Lists or use Distribution Lists created in Outlook.
Users can name distribution lists (for example "Soccer Tournament") and add members to it from their Contacts or simply by typing in an email address.
When a user sends an email to a Distribution List, Kerio MailServer automatically replaces the name of a distribution list with a list of actual email addresses, streamlining the process for sending an informational email to a large group of recipients.
Calendar and reminders
Kerio WebMail hosts both private and shared calendars. From WebMail users can view other people's calendars or share their calendars with selected colleagues.
Just like in Outlook, when an event or appointment is due, Kerio WebMail pops up an event reminder. Therefore no important event is ever missed, even when connected from a remote location.
Integrated advanced features
Kerio WebMail integrates technologies and features to make working with webmail as productive as working with a software email browser.
- Out-of-office reply
The smart auto-response filter will automatically send your out-of-office reply message while you are gone, and not duplicate the message to addressees that send you more than one email.
- Free/busy time lookup
Schedule meetings with colleagues and check their availability from WebMail.
- Drag & drop for email and calendar events
Moving email messages between folders has never been easier. Just drag the message and move it to another folder.
- Email Address query
Just type the first few letters in the address bar and click the search button to list names from your address book that match your query.
- Right-click menus & shortcut keys
Many actions are accessible via the mouse's right-click menu. To make the WebMail experience even faster, keyboard shortcuts are available for the most frequent actions.
- Spell checker with customizable dictionary
No more worries about a misspelled word or two. The integrated spell checker allows you to add your own words or expressions in addition to its extensive dictionary.
- Send & receive attachments
All incoming pictures can be directly displayed in the email preview window. Up to 10 attachments can be sent at a time.
- Spam filter learning mode
Junk email that slips through SpamAssassin can be marked as spam. The message is automatically deleted and Kerio MailServer will increase the spam rating for messages of that type. Messages inaccurately labeled as spam can be marked as valid and the server will reduce the spam rating for such messages.
- Custom mail filters
Server-side mail filters allow you to sort messages to any of your folders or forward messages based on several criteria. Once configured, there is no need to set any filters in whatever software email client you may be using.
Customizable From & Reply-To addresses
You only need to fill out a different Reply-To address to receive answers at some other account, such as info@company.com.
- Custom signature
Attach your pre-defined signature to every email you send out.
- HTML editor
Just like your regular email client, Kerio WebMail allows you to create nice-looking HTML emails from your favorite browser.
Kerio WebMail Mini Kerio WebMail Mini
Optimized for small-screen PDA devices such as the Palm Treo, Pocket PC, or BlackBerry, Kerio WebMail Mini allows users to check their email while on the road. Kerio WebMail Mini will also allow users with old browsers to access their email and contacts.
